Wheel of Fortune Contestant’s Loss Sparks Outrage Among Viewers

Megan, a high school choir director from California, competed in the Bonus Round of Wheel of Fortune. The puzzle category was “Living Thing.” After selecting her letters, she was left with “P N / R C _ D.”

Megan knew the second word was “orchid” and said, “Something orchid…” However, she struggled to come up with the first word before the timer ran out. The correct answer was “Pink Orchid.”

Pat Sajak told Megan she might have been overthinking and should have thought of a type of orchid. Megan exclaimed “Pink!” upon realizing the correct answer. Sajak expressed his disappointment and revealed that she had lost out on a $40,000 cash prize.

Many viewers believed Megan said “Pink orchid” on her first guess and took to social media to express their outrage. They accused the show of cheating Megan out of her winnings.

One viewer wrote, “There is no question, she absolutely said ‘pink orchid.’ Please give this girl her winnings!” Another said, “She had the bonus round puzzle and they buzzed her out robbing her of a $40,000 prize!”

Some viewers even claimed they listened to the recording multiple times and were certain Megan said “Pink orchid.” They called for the show’s producers and host Pat Sajak to get their hearing checked.

Wheel of Fortune viewers have been increasingly vocal in recent months, criticizing the show’s producers, host, and contestants. Some have grown impatient with contestants who fail to solve puzzles correctly, while others have taken issue with Sajak’s commentary.

Sajak, who is in his final season as host of Wheel of Fortune, has been unafraid to call out contestants who fall short. He has made several jabs at contestants who have struggled to solve puzzles, leading to mixed reactions from viewers.
