S.W.A.T.: Who’s Out and Who’s In for the Final Season?

S.W.A.T. is coming back for its seventh and final season, but not everyone will be there until the end. Two original cast members, Kenneth “Kenny” Johnson (Dominique Luca) and Alex Russell (Jim Street), have been demoted to recurring players.

Why the Change?

Showrunner Andrew Dettmann explained that the decision was made due to the shortened 13-episode season. This allowed the writers to focus on the characters and their storylines more deeply.

Open-Ended Finale

The final season will likely have an open-ended finale, giving the writers more freedom to wrap up the storylines without feeling rushed.

Shemar Moore’s Optimism

Series star Shemar Moore is hopeful that the show could return in the future. He believes the door is still open for a comeback, possibly on Paramount+.

New Regular Cast Member

Anna Enger Ritch, who plays Officer Zoe Powell, has been promoted to a series regular for the final season. She joins Moore, Jay Harrington, David Lim, and Rochelle Aytes as the main cast.

Season 7 Premiere

S.W.A.T. Season 7 premieres on Friday, February 16, at 8/7c on CBS.
