King Charles’ cancer diagnosis was revealed through an announcement by Buckingham Palace. Before the news went public, he reportedly shared it with his sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. Harry flew overnight to see his father, but the visit was brief.
Despite hopes that Harry could mend his broken relationship with his father and brother, it seems that even King Charles’ cancer diagnosis has not led to a reconciliation. King Charles left for another engagement within an hour of Harry’s visit, leaving little time for reconciliation. Harry left London for Sandringham, and with William not expected to see him during this time, Harry’s options in the United Kingdom are limited.
Harry reportedly stayed in a London hotel rather than with family in any of the royal estates. He used to have an official residence, Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, but since his move to the United States, he and Meghan Markle have vacated it. Meghan did not go to see her father-in-law and instead chose to stay home with the children.
Prince Harry had not seen his father since the coronation on May 6, 2023. The only word the public has had of interactions between them since then is through a leaked birthday phone call. There has been speculation that Harry and Meghan leaked the call to garner positive public relations.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s foundation, Archewell, has been updating videos about the Invictus Games, likely due to the upcoming Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler One Year To Go event over Valentine’s Day weekend.
It is hoped that Harry will not use his father’s cancer as a PR stunt.
