Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos Stunned by a First on Live

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos were left speechless during a recent episode of Live with Kelly and Mark. It was the first time something like this had happened in the show’s 29 seasons.

Stump Mark Trivia Contest

Every weekday, after the host chats, Kelly and Mark play a trivia contest called Stump Mark. The contestant tries to stump Mark with one lie and one truth. If Mark guesses the truth, the contestant wins a mug. If they can’t answer a question, they play for a trip or a consolation prize.

A Surprise Contestant

Usually, the show calls contestants from wherever they live, and the game continues over the phone. However, things were different this time. As Kelly and Mark were setting up the game, a phone rang in the studio. They looked around, confused, and then a voice from the audience said, “Hello.”

A Contestant in the Audience

Kelly and Mark were shocked. They asked if it was a joke, and Mark almost fell over from the surprise. Michael Gelman explained that they had called someone randomly to be on the trivia segment, and for the first time, the contestant had tickets to the show that day.

A Memorable Game

The game went on as usual, except it was face-to-face. Kelly joked that it was like seeing your teacher in the summer. The show posted a photo on their Instagram reel to commemorate this incredible first.

Live with Kelly and Mark’s Success

This week has been full of surprises for Kelly and Mark. They announced that the show would go to LA to film shows after the Oscars and then to Vegas to film four shows in February. The show’s ratings are also the highest in almost three years, with an average of 2.7 million viewers per episode for the week of January 15, 2024.

Live with Kelly and Mark airs weekdays on ABC.
